RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) -Governor Larry Rhoden has shared details about greeting Vice President JD Vance at Mt. Rushmore.
The governor shared photos of his exchange with Vance on social media.
As for what the two discussed?
“We had a pretty meaningful short conversation,” said Rhoden. “I talked to him about how impressed I was with him, when he first really hit the scene when he did the vice-presidential debate, and how I really thought that that was turning point in their campaign, and I told him so, and he seemed to appreciate that,” said Rhoden.
Rhoden got more specific about what he saw in Vance during the vice-presidential debate.
“I found myself just feeling jealous, somebody that can articulate an argument, as well as he did, and especially somebody with his background, he was just so clear headed,” said Rhoden. “Just the way he was able to articulate an argument, and the common sense just eludes from, from everything he says,” explained Rhoden.
The governor says Vance’s debate performance led him to believe Vance was a great pick for President Trump’s running mate.
Vice President Vance made an unannounced Visit to Mt. Rushmore on Thursday. Visitors at the memorial waited in the heat to for their chance to greet the VP. Those visitors underwent a Secret Service checkpoint set up to secure the memorial for the VP’s arrival.
