  1. At a recent White House meeting, former U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rekindled a controversial proposal: relocating Gaza’s 2.3 million Palestinians to other countries while transforming Gaza into a Western-style resort—the so‑called “Riviera of the Middle East”. Netanyahu endorsed this vision, framing it as a voluntary option for Palestinians, though he signaled that they could return—a claim that rings hollow in the face of practical and legal constraints. The plan has drawn fierce backlash. Palestinians, grounded in the trauma of the 1948 Nakba and current war-time devastation, strongly reject any mass displacement. Legal experts warn the idea flirts with ethnic cleansing—a crime under international law. Arab states like Egypt and Jordan, along with global powers (France, China, UK, Russia, Germany, Spain, etc.) have publicly disavowed any attempt to move Palestinians into their territories.

  2. Congrats Uncommitted. You did it, you saved exactly absolutely negative Palestinian lives.

  3. I have a hard time justifying how people can simultaneously believe two things:

1). A genocide is occurring against X group in Y place.

2). X group should absolutely not be allowed to leave Y place.

Yes, obviously everyone should be able to live in peace in their homes. But I can’t imagine people saying the Tutsis shouldn’t be allowed to leave Rwanda during the Rwandan genocide. It seems obvious that preserving people’s lives is a higher concern than keeping them in their homes in any other context.

  4. Any of y’all think the Arab Americans who decided to sit the election out or voted for Trump are having buyer’s remorse?

  5. I think it’s impossible to argue that having an option to leave Gaza would be a good thing. It’s incomprehensible to me how some people may be against *others* deciding what’s better *for them*.

That said, the reality is, any country agreeing to accept any non-trivial number of Gaza refugees would be seen as helping Israel, so I wouldn’t expect this to materialize.

  6. It’s genocide if they stay, it’s genocide if they go. Feels like nothing can be done.

  7. Oh yeah we all knew this was coming. Annexation and forced relocation was set in stone the moment Trump won.

  8. >Trump said during their White House meeting Monday that there was “great cooperation” [from countries surrounding Israel to take in Palestinians](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/donald-trump-israeli-prime-minister-benjamin-netanyahu-meeting-rcna190449), while Netanyahu said they were “getting close to finding several countries” willing to do so.

I wonder what’s the trade off for any country to take in Palestinians, or will the US threaten to impose ridiculously high tariffs if the surrounding Arab States don’t comply with the demand.
