Magaluf fire sees hundreds of tourists evacuated
A total of 530 tourists had to be evacuated early in Monday morning from a hotel in Magaluf (Mallorca) after a fire broke out in the hotel’s laundry area.
The fire was not serious, but panic arose during the evacuation, leading two tourists to suffer minor injuries and require treatment at a clinic in Palma.

The EC has stressed that Spain doesn’t have a proper anti-corruption strategy yet and lacks a “unified strategy” across political parties, a warning that comes comes at the height of the corruption case involving the ruling Socialists.
Over the weekend, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez promised a series of new reforms to root out corruption in his party, and he’s likely to elaborate on this in Congress today (Wednesday 9th) as he is due to give explanation on the recent scandals affecting PSOE.
Storms and heat forecast for Wednesday
Seven regions in Spain have weather alerts today, five yellow warnings for high temperatures and two orange warnings for storms.
In the Valencian region heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected, especially in the province of Castellón, where up to 40 litres per square meter could fall in just one hour. Storms are also expected in Aragón.
And as expected there will also be plenty of heat. Temperatures will hover around the 35C to 39C mark in Andalusia, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, interior Galicia and the Community of Madrid.
