In a major move to position Nigerian youths for global tech opportunities, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development has announced a strategic partnership with GITEX Global, a world-renowned platform for technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
According to Ayodele Olawande, Minister for Youth Development, “As part of our ongoing drive to unlock global opportunities for Nigerian youth, I’m proud to announce a strategic partnership between the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and GITEX Global.”
The digital event, scheduled from September 1st to 4th, 2025, will take place across various locations in Nigeria. It will feature 300 promising startups selected nationwide for international exposure, global partnerships, and scale-up support.
This initiative is a product of strong collaboration between government agencies. Minister Olawande confirmed: “This achievement was made possible through strong inter-agency collaboration. I was joined at the meeting by the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr. Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi, a testament to our shared commitment to building a unified digital future for Nigeria’s youth.”
The event is backed by NiYA – the Nigerian Youth Academy, launched under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Over 7 million young Nigerians are being trained in digital skills and entrepreneurship, with more than 210,000 youths already onboarded.
Green House Centres are also being launched in all 774 local government areas to support talent development at the grassroots.
The Ministry also proposed the GITEX Youth Local Showcase Series – Powered by NiYA, to connect Nigeria’s emerging talent with global innovation hubs, including GITEX Africa.
“To every young innovator, coder, designer, and founder across Nigeria, your time is now,” Olawande said. “Get ready. The world is watching. And Nigeria is rising.”
