Lust doesn’t sound too fitting for the Dutch. It presumes we have any emotion that drives us towards collecting wealth. We just work, negotiate, and then get money.
(from what I learned in secondary school, way too long ago, so some bits may be off, the Dutch version of Christianity back in the day was a bit weird. You weren’t avoiding sin to get into heaven, that would have already been decided at your birth. You avoided sin and worked hard to hopefully get to learn where you’re going before you die. Anyway, as such I feel like I can say there is no emotion like ‘lust’ that drives the Dutch to get money and prevent spending (or live a sober life, to adopt more religious terminology).)
