About this Czech publication Novinky
On July 4th, a significant power outage occurred in the Czech Republic, causing concern among the population. On July 10th, it was revealed that the main cause of this blackout was the failure of power lines, according to the Czech publication Novinky.
According to the information, the power lines were damaged between two settlements in the Ústí Region. In the Pardubice Region, in particular, the line connecting Týnec and Krasíkov failed around midday on July 4th. Additionally, the sixth unit of the Ledvice power plant, with a capacity of about three hundred megawatts, was also shut down.
The Czech transmission system operator ČEPS promptly began repair work. Around 2 p.m. on July 4th, power supply restoration began in Prague.
The operator noted that this blackout revealed existing issues in the transmission line system and emphasized the need to expand infrastructure across the country.
During the outage, the Czech Republic was forced to import electricity from Germany to ensure stable energy supply for its citizens.
