I recently got issued an EU Blue Card (Section 18g). Prior to that I had the 18 month job seeker visa for graduates of German universities and yes had a study visa accordingly.

My question is as per this info on the Make it in Germany website, the 24 month pension contribution shortcut for permanent residence does not apply to graduates of German universities that hold the blue card aka 18 AufenthG

Is my understanding of this correct?

  1. Is Section 18g either Section 18a, Section 18b or Section 18d? You’ve got a German university degree, you can simply read AufenthG §§18 ff.
