A severe storm accompanied by torrential rain, strong winds and hail hit parts of Split, Croatia this morning.

Amateur footage shows that residents there haven’t seen a storm like this in a long time. Fortunately, it was short-lived, but the consequences could be huge, reports the Telegraph.

A strong wind literally destroyed the glass walls of the photo studio, which is located in the Croatia Insurance building, opposite the Ministry of Internal Affairs building in Split.

The basements of Diocletian’s Palace and the Peristyle suffered the worst, being completely flooded, with water reaching up to half a meter in some places.

According to initial information, there is extensive damage to the Hajduk stadium in Polud, where, according to Bozho Pavkovic, the roof was severely damaged, as well as the field, which was completely damaged and flooded.

“Some office space and an enclosed hall were also damaged, and the electricity to the stadium was cut off and the question is how we are going to restore it.”

“Overall, the damage is quite extensive and it doesn’t look good at the moment. We will wait for the weather to calm down for specific assessments, but it’s not good,” Pavkovic said. /Telegraph/
