1. President Zelensky’s calls for the United States to punish Russia economically have had little effect since President Trump returned to the White House.

   “Sanctions must be imposed faster, and pressure on Russia must be strong enough that they truly feel the consequences of their terror,” the Ukrainian leader said on Thursday, in his latest desperate plea for help.

   For once, his request may have fallen on fertile ground.
