Hello everyone I usually commute through Würzburg hbf twice a week and today i noticed this structure at the beginning of almost every platform. They seem very old and unused. Does anyone have an idea what is it for? I took a zoomed picture to see what's inside. Looks like a road?

This is a former postal tunnel that was used for loading letters and parcels when they were still transported by train.
I believe it’s a ramp for transporting stuff to load on or unload from the train. Once upon a time there was a separate carriage for luggage, which would be loaded on by train staff. Mail would also often be transported on trains. Nowadays it might still be used for stuff like cleaning supply or supplying the on-board restaurant.
Utility corridors, there are underground tunnels to distribute food, luggage, freight, cleaning supplies or other stuff needed when servicing trains (I assume).
A lot of public buildings have a parallel world of corridors, elevators, stairwells for official use: hotels, malls, stadiums…
You can even still walk trough the old Post tunnel in the HBF Ulm.
I’d say it’s not an exit
