  1. Probably Gerard butler? Hold on I’m sure there was a university project that ranked the fame of people let me see.

The royals claim to be Scottish when it suits them – but they don’t count.

Edit: according to Pantheon (really interesting project) from MIT the answer is Alex Ferguson. (As far as I can tell they don’t allow you to search by constituent UK country just by “Great Britain” but they do list birthplace so you gotta just manually check haha).

Edit 2: Butler was a bad guess there are far better guesses below.

  2. Brian Cox… Succession got pretty huge. Alan Cumming… Traitors is massive too

  3. James McAvoy might be a contender?

  4. Nah, a lot of people don’t even realise that Tennant is even Scottish because he does *the voice* all the time

  5. I reckon many especially in the US would say Susan Boyle

  6. I was chatting to a couple girls I work with and they know who Alan Cumming is.

  7. Billy Connolly will always be up there. I’m 50 and i remember when I was young it was always a thing to go round my mates house and watch a Billy Connolly video with a few beers. I’ll be sad when he goes. It’ll be like a part of my childhood (and teen years) gone. I also like Gerard Butler too. He’s from my home town as is Tom Conti.
