21-year-old volunteer from Hungary dies in war in Ukraine

21-year-old Hungarian volunteer Asher Benjamin died in the war against Russia.

It is known that the fighter died on May 24 as part of the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Asher previously served in the Hungarian army, but left it, notifying the commander of his intention to fight in Ukraine.

Ukraine and Hungary are working to return the body of the deceased. At the same time, the boy’s father, Asher Nathan, who lives in Canada, expressed a desire to bury his son in Kyiv or Toronto.

In a comment to journalists, the father noted that his son had autism and did not inform the family of his decision to go to war.

“Benjamin, with his actions and decisions, clearly sided with the Ukrainian people… Benjamin’s heart and soul were connected to Ukraine,” said the father of the deceased volunteer.
