The Israeli communications satellite “Dror 1” was launched into space Sunday morning from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Watch the rocket carrying the sattelite take off:
The satellite was launched shortly after 8:00 a.m. (Israel time) aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 launcher.
“Dror 1,” according to IAI, is intended to provide a solution to the satellite communications needs of the State of Israel for about 15 years.
“Dror 1” is based largely on blue-and-white technologies, developed by IAI, which include an advanced digital communications payload and “smartphone in space” capabilities, allowing for communications flexibility throughout its years of operation.
