This Sunday, Remich hosts the Ironman Luxembourg – a demanding test of endurance as participants swim, cycle, and run through the Moselle region.

Among the 2,500 athletes at the starting line is a familiar face from the culinary world: celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

The event’s organisers confirmed on Friday that Ramsay would be competing in the Ironman 70.3 Remich, more commonly known as Ironman Luxembourg. They initially asked the media to keep the news confidential, but on Sunday morning Ramsay himself announced his participation to fans on social media just before the race began.

Best known for his fiery television persona on Hell’s Kitchen, the 48-year-old chef is no stranger to athletic challenges. He successfully completed the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, in 2013 – widely regarded as the pinnacle of the sport – and competed in Staffordshire two years later. Ramsay has also taken part in several marathons and other triathlons over the years.

For this year’s event, Ramsay joins thousands of competitors tackling the scenic yet demanding Moselle course. The triathlon begins with a 1.9 km swim in Germany, followed by a 90 km bike ride through France, and concludes with a 21.1 km run along the Luxembourg side of the Moselle, finishing in Remich.

In his social media post, Ramsay wished good luck to all fellow participants, sharing his excitement to be part of the race.
