Most people enjoy travelling to regain peace and calmness in their hectic lives. If the country they visit isn’t peaceful, then it would completely ruin the experience. The Institute for Economics and Peace has recently released the Global Peace Index, ranking countries based on the level of peace. 163 countries, which include around 99.7 per cent of the global population, have been included in the list.
The countries were ranked based on 23 guidelines, including social security, internal and external conflicts and the level of militarisation. The countries that earn the lowest scores in these categories are likely to end up in the top spots. As per the Global Peace Index, Iceland is the most peaceful country in the world. Meanwhile, Russia is the least peaceful country, grabbing the last position. India ranks 115th in the Global Peace Index.
