TROGIR, 14 July 2025 – Croatia’s culinary scene has just become a little sweeter. The country’s first ever fritularna – a shop dedicated exclusively to traditional fritule – has opened its doors in the historic coastal town of Trogir.
Located at Šubićeva 24, Balîna is the creation of Ana Slade-Šilović and Marina Martinis, who set out to reimagine the much-loved Dalmatian treat.
Their aim was to make fritule available year-round, not just during festivals and special occasions, while keeping the experience rooted in authenticity and quality.

What makes Balîna stand out is its personalisation concept. Guests can build their own fritule by choosing from a wide selection of fillings, toppings and sauces.

Options include white chocolate, pistachio, hazelnut, vanilla, tiramisu, cheesecake and fruit-based sauces, as well as toppings like crushed biscuits, coconut, fresh fruit, and ground nuts. For those unsure what to choose, there are 20 curated combinations to try.

“All of our products are made using only high-quality ingredients. That is something we never compromise on,” said Ana and Marina.

“We prepare the fritule batter fresh every day, and never use preservatives, artificial colourings or additives. Balîna was born from our wish to make this traditional delicacy available every day, and we are proud to have turned that into a modern concept.”

In addition to fritule, Balîna offers specialty coffee, matcha and locally crafted juices. The idea is to give both locals and visitors a taste of tradition as they stroll through Trogir’s charming stone alleys.
