SS: This article argues that today’s announcement of new US military assistance to Ukraine and threat of secondary sanctions represents a months-long pivot in US policy that accelerated in recent days. Political pressure in the US along with strategic errors by China and Russia and smart moves by Ukrainian and European leaders help shift the White House’s policy. The agreement announced by Trump and Rutte today provides a mechanism for long-term support for Ukraine that satisfies Trump’s “America First” ideology and reconciles concerns of Indo-Pacific prioritizers in the administration. It also threatens to kick the legs out of Russia’s economy while it struggles to fight off stagflationary conditions. Much will depend on the follow through of the administration.
As much as I want to give Ukraine and Europe credit for getting America back on side.
1.) The general cause of this is that Trump got his fee-fees hurt by his friend Putin because Putin wanted him to win because Trump would be soft on Russia and somehow Trump was the last to realize.
2.) TACO. Trump cannot be trusted to keep this pivot up especially if the vatniks and Russia apologists in his inner circle and supporter base lean on him even slightly.
I wouldn’t give too much about this, it’s a 50 day deadline, and Trump‘s personal flip-flop timeframe is much shorter.
In 50 days, he‘ll have weapons shipped to Russia because “Ukraine started the war“ twice and then support Ukraine again.
17 batteries is a bullshit number as well, Trump is just blabbering like always.
There’s no pivot. It’s subterfuge in service to Putin.
Russia’s about to launch a last ditch offensive.
Trump will find some stupid excuse to not deliver any of the weapons he’s promised.
Watch.
Putin overplayed his hand. He has been boosting nationalists everywhere to try and break up the alliance net restraining him. And while the alliance is less cohesive it hasn’t broken, and the issue with nationalists is they work in their own national intrest, which alot of the time is against Russia. Trump is uniquely dumb and bordering on senile. But that also makes him hard to control. Trump only works for himself, hes either the corruptest or second corruptest politican in us history, and putin was using that. But the moment putin stopped paying and natos leadership got the right head space for dealing with him they managed to engineer this. The question is if it will stick or if putin will cough up the payment trump wants (an end to the war on his terms)
If Trump was serious, the deadline would be 24 hours. He is just creating more buzz to distract people from Epstein files scandal.
