  1. Azerbaijan is still demanding that Armenia amends its constitution to remove all claims to historically & ethnically Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh.

Crucially this can only happen via a public vote, and polls have found that a large majority oppose constitutional changes — so even if it is put to a referendum, it’s likely it would fail.

The second main sticking point has to do w/ the so-called ‘Zangezur Corridor’, a corridor passing through Armenia’s Syunik that Azerbaijan wants to control to have full access to their exclave, Nakchichevan. The Armenian government opposes this.

However, earlier today, the US’ envoy to Turkey said that the US has proposed to take control of the region, set up customs, etc. basically administer it. In response, the Armenian government put out the statement denying it — claiming that there have been no discussion and there can be no discussion over such a proposal.

What’s clear to me is that further integration into the Western sphere would be bad for Armenia and should be opposed. It would translate into the factor Turkish hegemony & domination over Armenia, which is by far the worst ‘solution’. I hope the Pashinyan government sticks by their promise not to give away control over the corridor and, I believe a ‘re-think’ of the RA’s foreign policy is needed.
