I am a brit and trying to have an understanding of the music my Latvian children (11 and 8 year old girls) are listening to.
I want to build an appropriate playlist for car journeys!
I am not only, not Latvian but my music tastes are a good 30+ years out of date!
Really like to explore this, so let me know your lists!
Thank you! 👍🏾🙏🏾

I dunno my kids listen to some anime shit
and Bermudu Divstūris
I think you should just ask them.
Many 11 year olds listen to non-latvian music
When I was 11 years old, I was listening to Raimonds Pauls and Labvēlīgais Tips 😀
It really depends
Latvian hip hop is great, esp with female lead. They often collab with pop artists. Also, many indie bands. Pretty much what first shows up on spotify or google by these keywords are fine
an appropriate (sans rap, because expletitive lyrics on 90% of tracks) picks are let’s say, any hits or songs from: Prata Vetra, Patrisha, Tumsa, Labveligais Tips, Musiqq, Carnival Youth, Dons, Imants Kalniņš, Lauris Reiniks, Aija Andrejeva, Instrumenti, Eolika, Jumprava, Intars Busulis, Zebrene, astro’n’out, Būū.
most of this is 2000-2010s pop with sprinkle of 1980s or 2020s, so I am not entirely up to date with what the kids could be listening.
then on spotify you can try to look up in which playlists some of the artists appear. one keyword for playlists could be ‘zaļumballe’ or ‘latviešu klasika’. again, these doesnt really include songs of late 10s or 20s.
