  1. Yikes. Bad policy, based on a false foundation, designed by people who somehow have zero idea of how kids behave/how kids react to adults trying to control them. Good luck with all that.

  2. Not sure it’s necessarily a bad thing. Europe needs its own home grown social networks just like it needs in every area of tech. The West gets itself all worked up and hand wrings over this stuff while potentially nefarious foreign operators conduct large scale psychological experiments on our populations. Meanwhile places like China do not even waste a second in keeping Western products out of its market place. It’s just more asymmetric warfare the West is ill equipped to handle in the most important battlefield of the 21st century.

  3. tbh I think social media access being granted at the same age you’re allowed to drink alcohol is a solid standard. Prior to that you should learn to socialize with people and not be staring at your phone all the time.

We should also ban all political parties and their nonprofit branches from social media and all forms of internet marketing, it’s had a huge negative impact to the fabric of society and ruined many families and friendships unnecessarily for the benefit of politicians.

  4. Some regulation makes sense, but this sure does sound like the sort of thing that will immediately be abused by shitty actors the moment they get the opportunity.

Free speech has its drawbacks but I’d prefer too much freedom rather than not enough.
