Israel bombs Syria’s Druze city of Suwayda hours after ceasefire

   >Israel has claimed its attacks on the southern Syrian region bordering Israel are meant to protect the Druze minority, which it sees as potential allies.

   >The latest developments come hours after Syrian Minister of Defence Murhaf Abu Qasra [declared a truce](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/7/15/syrian-troops-enter-druze-city-of-sweida-after-days-of-deadly-clashes) in a post on social media, saying: “To all units operating within the city of Suwayda, we declare a complete ceasefire.”

   *Snipes children*

   “We don’t target ambulances and hospitals”

   *Bombs every hospital. Buries evidence of attacking ambulances*

   “They hate us cuz they are antisemtic”

   *Bulldozing houses, destroying families, holds children hostage, sexual assault on civilians and hostages.*

   “It’s mean to call us bad words.”

   *Chants, “school is out in Gaza because there are no children left, death to Arabs, may your village burn*.

   #but believe us. When we say.

   We only want peace.
