In case people are wondering why Israel is defending them so vehemently, the Druze (total population of 145,000) have 80% enlistment in the IDF, and fight / die along with their Jewish counterparts. If there was a civil war where Druze were getting slaughtered in Syria, the risk is that they would abandon their Israeli army posts to help fight in Syria.

7. Israel using the killings of ethnic minorities as an excuse for this is beyond parody.

9. I wonder if some blunt realpolitk can be worked out where Israel can focus on the problematic parts of the Syrian forces giving Sharaa an opportunity to enforce control over the army better.
