Bank of Greece sees primary surplus at €4.5 bln

The primary surplus of the state budget jumped to 4.5 billion euros in the first half of 2025, according to data published by the Bank of Greece on Wednesday. 

In the period January-June 2025, the primary surplus of the state budget increased to €4.5 billion, from just €77 million in the same period last year. 

This development reflects the increase in regular budget revenues, which amounted to €32.55 billion, from €30 billion last year. As for regular budget expenditures, they reached €31.605 billion, from €29.117 billion in the January-June 2024 period. 

These developments resulted in the cash deficit at the central government level decreasing to €465 million, compared to €1.6 billion in the corresponding period last year. 

The regular budget also showed a surplus of €1.75 billion against a deficit of €2.2 billion in the first half of 2024.
