Solar 13% + wind 9.28% + hydro 16.1% + bioenergy 1.78% = 40.16%

Share of coal fell to a record low of 52.6%.

Solar is growing rapidly and hit 13% (113 TWh) in June. In June 2024 this was 9.8% (80.3 TWh).

  1. This is great news. Combined with similar news lately from Europe, California etc., looks like a green future is looking promising. 5-10 years ago, things looked quite dire with lack of political and industrial will.

  2. Absolute numbers: twice as many wind and PV additions than the rest of the world combined

    Percentage-wise: much slower growth of the share of renewables than in Germany
