Russia is thought to be days or weeks away from surging into a heightened summer offensive, perhaps using the 160,000 troops Ukrainian officials have said are amassing near their front lines.

The biggest problem is the slow collapse in South Donetsk area where the next defensive line, a minor river, is also the administrative border to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast’. If the Russians cross it and establish a bridgehead, it will take them all of 5 min to start putting out claims on Dnipro as well.
Europe needs to tell the US to do something quick!
Trump giving Putin another chance to try to get into a better negotiating position is all I see
Let me guess.. about 50 days away?
At what point, if at all, does Europe start to look at this as an existential threat to itself as an entity? Russia has committed to a clear objective and in turn has committed to applying whatever resources are needed to achieve that, even allowing for that cost being ruinous and their historically renowned incompetence/inefficiency. Europe has not done the same, as commendable as the military and financial support that has been supplied to Kyiv by them, it just isn’t enough.
For all of the billions of $ spent, for all of the millions of bullets/shells/missiles fired supplied by Europe, it’s all been to the aim of just stopping Russia, not defeating them or pushing them back, just stopping them, and it seems as if that objective is not being met now. There’ll come a point where Starmer/Macron/Merz will basically pressure Zelensky to concede a massive proportion of Ukrainian land and try and implausibly market it as a win. Except at that point Russia will have proven that there is no real continent wide resolve to fight it, and the EU will still have its Hungarian puppet undermining it and that it will have truly driven a wedge between Europe and the US.
Europe should have committed troops and planes to fighting Russia in eastern Ukraine – and I am under no illusions about how utterly ugly and destructive that would be, but nonetheless necessary – and shown the resolve needed to prove that it is an actual global power in the 21st century, and not just an entity gambling that no-one will press it too hard to prove that it isn’t.
160k- a nice juicy target
Europe is too comfortable, too lazy, too weak, too poor, too fragmented, and too corrupt to do anything meaningful.
All the recent military procurements are at least a decade away from materialising.
These procurements should’ve started back in 2014 but due to the abovementioned reasons they haven’t, giving Russia a free pass to escalate further.
Heck, even now there’s plenty of Europeans to whom this war is a distant phenomenon quite low in the priority list.
Each time Europe kicks this can down the road it becomes ever more more expensive to deal with.
I hope nothing falls on them!!! WINK WINK!!
Cool. 160k barely trained bodies with minimal artillery, tank, or AFV support. Yeah, not worried.
Hopefully Ukraine gives them absolute Hell!
Time to carpet bomb the front line.
To coordinate with China attack on Taiwan
160000 troops with a total of 17 AFV’s between them.
After this offensive is done next nuclear threat? 🙂
Another 160k smooth brains removed from the gene pool. Love to see it
