On Thursday night, Maccabi Tel Aviv issued a press release condemning the statement made by the organized fans of the club, nicknamed “The Gate”, which accused Danny Federman of not having “the financial ability or the desire to invest in building a competitive team, while other shareholders are willing to do so”.

The fans were openly asking Danny Federman to leave the team, and the club’s reaction was strong.

Per Maccabi‘s press release: “All shareholders of Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club wish to express their strong and unequivocal condemnation of the statement issued by the fan organization ‘The Gate,’ which was directed against one of the club’s shareholders.

The statement crossed acceptable boundaries of discourse and carries a tone of personal incitement. We firmly condemn not only the irresponsible style in which it was written but also its content, which is replete with distortions and untrue statements.

Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club is a club with tradition and values. We will continue to act responsibly and with mutual respect, while upholding the principles of freedom of expression, as long as it is conducted substantively and respectfully”.
