  1. Very weird choice. Imo, royals play a major role in public diplomacy and promoting the country’s institutions – universities included – should be a basic expectation. Exchange programs could give them some international experience and freedom.

    Either way, what I find particularly odd is that Sofía also chose a virtually unknown university, recently founded, with no prestige. There’s not even an academic justification behind it.

    What she is doing is a degree in Political Science and International Relations, on a course based in three cities (Lisbon, Paris, Berlin)

  3. I think part of the reason that royals choose to go outside their home country for university is privacy. You’re more likely to be unrecognized outside of your home country. I think Victoria even said something like this, that at Harvard no one knew who she was and it allowed her to enjoy university more
