Israel strikes military tanks in southern Syria • FRANCE 24 English

It was a direct hit. As violence continued between Bedawin and Drew’s religious minorities in southern Syria, Israel targeted the Syrian security forces who, according to the UK- based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, were acting in support of Bedawin groups. The Israeli strikes were meant to send a clear message. It’s a clear warning to the Syrian regime. We will not allow harm to be done to the Jews in Syria. The Israeli government has previously offered to protect Syrian Jews during the post Assad transition. Israel itself is home to over 100,000 of them. Despite the warning, the Syrian Interior Ministry has announced that its forces have entered the predominantly Drew city of Sueda Tuesday. The Syrian state is fully committed to maintaining an impartial stance towards all segments of Syrian society. Drew’s religious leaders in Sueda released a statement approving the entry into the city and said factions would hand over their weapons. A curfew is expected to be imposed on the city. In the region, tensions between Jews and Bedawin groups are recurrent. Last April and May, dozens of people died in clashes. A minority originating from isism, an offshoot of Shiite Islam, the Jews population is spread out between Lebanon, Syria, and Israel. With 700,000 living in Syria, the violence in Sueda threatens to exacerbate ethnic and religious tensions in the region already laid bare by years of civil war.

Israel’s army said Monday it struck military tanks in southern Syria, where government forces and Bedouin tribes clashed with Druze militias in the latest escalation in the Middle East country struggling for stability after a 13-year civil war.

  1. What happened to international law? So Israel can protect Jews in Syria and Russia can protect Russians in Ukraine?
You’re reporting it like a normal thing yet it’s a violation of Syrian sovereignty

  2. Israel should not leave Druze in this situation,
at least make a deal with the ISIS government of Syria to stop the invasion and protect Sweida with a political deal.

Or otherwise support them militarily immediately.

  3. Israel looking for trouble every where, why don’t they in there borders. Every time they start war the world feels it with high prices and spending

  4. Over 100k Druze in Israel is a strong voting block. Any politician who ignores Druze concerns won't succeed in a democracy.

  5. I totally agree with the Israeli IAF protecting the Druze in northern Syria. Something that the newly appointed leader of Syria should’ve been doing himself and using his own military to defend the Druze up in northern Syria.

  6. Muslims are being taught a lesson from China, India to Myanmar.
Isreal is just protecting vulnerable people.
