Drop-off and collection fees at airports can rival the cost of parking a private jet, analysis of charges at Scottish terminals suggests.
Motorists parking at Edinburgh’s drop-off and pick-up zone, a short walk from the terminal, are charged £18 for an hour, which is more expensive than the cost to keep a small jet on the airfield.
Private jets are charged at £0.118 per metric tonne per 15 minutes on the ground. Last year Taylor Swift, the global popstar, performed in the Scottish capital and is rumoured to have arrived in her Dassault Falcon 7X jet. Swift would have been charged about £14.90 an hour while it was parked on the airfield, as the plane weighs 31.7 tonnes.
Critics said the comparison shows that something has “clearly gone awry” when it comes to the cost of so-called kiss and fly parking zones at airports.
While there are cheaper places to park, zones close to the terminal door are popular, especially with motorists dropping off elderly relatives or disabled passengers.
That’s a fucking pain in the arse, would taken the jet instead of the car last weekend.
I don’t understand the hate for drop off fees. Edinburgh and Glasgow both have free drop off options for up to 30 minutes if you park in the long stay car park and is only a 10-15 minute bus/walk away.
£6 for a drop-off is a pisstake to be fair.
I’ll take my private jet next time.
It costs so much to disuade you from doing it. Simple as that.
It’s almost as if the airport is a business and not a charity. Imagine that.

Ok, and now add (from their conditions of use):
* Landing charges
* Passenger charges
* Noise charges
* Infrastructure charges
* Carbon emissions charges
* Navigation charges
