Occam’s Razor. He was not a great comedian, committed to the repetitious biased political humor. Colbert earned a reported $15-$20M a year, “The Late Show” production costs according to CBS were $100M annually. His demise was based upon only 200k nightly viewers in the coveted 24-55 age demographic, corresponding Ad revenue decline from $438M in 2018 to $220M in 2024. He failed, few will miss him, it will be interesting to see how many comedians come to his defense upon firing, verses Democratic politician guest wannabe celebrities using him for campaign contributions. I think it’s obvious how that will play out, but we’ll see…
