  1. Reminder to cancel your Paramount subscription and to say in the survey that it’s because they paid Trump a bribe and fired Colbert for telling us that.

  2. The optics are so obvious that if I were CBS I would have cancelled the show but not til 2028.

  3. Yes. It was all part of the settlement. Does anyone else not see just how cheap $16 million was for a multi billion dollar merger. Hell… To Trump, firing Colbert was WAY more the victory than the money. Otherwise it would have been $60 million for the bribe.

  4. The religious republicans among us may not know this but Stephen Colbert is a devoted catholic. He is kind and attends church regularly. He has even taught Sunday school.

    Remember this.

They just stabbed a good man in the back to appease a pedophile because greed is more important than being a good man.

  5. When does an accusation become what actually happened? Cause that’s what happened.

  6. Absolutely true.

Anyone who believes it was due to “financials” needs to wake up.

  7. Why get upset? Now CBS can replace Cobert with a program that showcases Twump’s golden shoes, ecoins, watches, Bibles, virtual trading cards…..

  8. Remember when the right was so concerned with cancel culture? I’m sure they’ll be just as concerned after hearing about this

  9. Are the Colbert fans? Businesses have been sucking up left and right with no comment, why now?

  10. Canceled Paramount yesterday. Donating to NPR.

    Fuck CBS.

  11. I was pretty much outraged when I first heard about it and drew the same conclusion. The caveat is that there’s been reporting from legitimate sources that the show was losing $40M/year. That would help explain why they’re just getting rid of the show altogether, not changing hosts. If it’s true then it’s just poor timing/optics because if I was in charge and knew it was losing that much I’d get rid of it too.

  12. I think it was likely as much about him pointing out the fact CBS has essentially paid a bribe as anything.

  13. Colbert will just go elsewhere and that won’t change anything.

  14. I’ll never watch CBS again and will not pay for any streaming service they offer.

  15. Celebrating Bad Suits. Chasing Boring Soup. Chapped Bald Souls. Credibly Bungles Society. Cheese Barf Sass.

  16. They canceled Colbert’s show……..I believe the proper answer is “strike me down and I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine “

  17. It was about approving a merger and Colbert is collateral damage because he hurts “Little Girl Fucker” Trump.

So, in a word, Paramount / CBS knelt down to the Pedophile in Chief Trump for a cool $16 million.

  18. I seriously hope this all leads to a “Colbert no longer gives a fuck” phase similar to what we got with Conan in the final months of his series on NBC.

  19. Yes, the appeasing Trump part is scary… but… Colbert is barely left of post-stroke John Fetterman. It is purely circumstantial he happened to say something Trump didn’t like (which lots of people are doing) at a time where Trump had leverage for the merger deal. He isn’t some prescient revolutionary brave guy who speaks truth to power, he isn’t the voice we need right now, he isn’t *nearly* that cool. Colbert would gladly try to convince you anyone left of Hillary Clinton is unelectable and crazy. It’s scary that Trump is doing this, but not *because* it’s Colbert. Don’t lionize him

  20. dumbest move they could make. Bye Paramount and CBS . will never entertain watching anything from you again…… No subscribers for you ! NEXT…

  21. Honest question, does anyone under 40 even watch late show genre anymore?

I feel like John Oliver is the only one and he’s definitely more in the streaming category than television imho

  22. CBS/Paramount pay off the Felon President

Because it is obvious that they did.

He threatened their rice bowl with lawfare and the power of the Presidency. Welcome to the fascist dictatorship he always wanted.

  23. I feel the same thing too. After his parent company settled with poopypants, now they’re trying to get rid of anyone critical of Trump or the company’s actions. I saw some of the comments on his farewell video that said he should do what Tucker Carlson or Conan did and form his own company to talk about issues considering how popular Colbert is. Many of us carried over from when he was doing Colbert Report and miss that Conservative Christian act he was doing.

  24. Cuz they did. New ownership meeting with the FCC 2 days before the announcement while still trying to get FCC approval. The transactional president forcing a transaction in his favor in order to get FCC approvals is exactly his MO.

  25. Duh.

    Not exactly news.

Let’s see what Murdoch does now with this lawsuit. Someone needs to start the snowball of standing up to him.

  26. Of course they are right Trump himself said he accepted 16 million plus a few other concessions ! This nutbar is getting rich off of claims that hold no merit or that he is responsible for in the first place. Never drew a picture in his life  Really  oh sorry you doodle next he wants his ear injury report so he can use it against Biden in some way ‘ this mango needs his own 24 hr Trump news network all about him so that those that want to zone in on him can and those that don’t are not forced to listen and watch  Enough is Enough

  27. CBS did cancel Colbert in a deal with trump and threw him 15 million that we know of but more than likely gave him tens of millions more in trumps cryptocurrency that trump just signed a order to use taxpayers money to protect it
