Daniel Saylor, a former Sycamore War Eagle, has signed a professional contract to continue his basketball career in Denmark, signing with the Svendborg Rabbits.
“It’s extremely exciting,” Saylor said. “It’s an incredible blessing to be able to continue my journey in the sport that I love.”
Like most of us, Saylor is doing his best to live out his dreams. Playing a professional sport at any level in any country is a big deal, adapting to Danish culture will be a new challenge for Saylor.
“It’s going to be an awesome experience,” Saylor said. “There are definitely some nerves – I’ve barely been out of the country and never without my family. But my wife and I are looking forward to building our lives together in a new place. I’m looking forward to learning Danish – at least as much as I can. I’ve been slowly learning Spanish over the last few years, but total immersion in the culture should accelerate my learning of a brand-new language.”
It’s taken quite a bit of hard work and commitment for Saylor to just get to this point. His time at Sycamore and at the University of Alabama in Huntsville have prepared him to take the next step.
“My college experience was amazing,” Saylor said. “All of my coaches and teammates poured into me to help refine my skills and grow my strength and knowledge of the game. I want to say a massive thank you to all of my friends, coaches and teammates throughout my life that have poured into me – you have shaped me into the man that I am today. Go Panthers, Knights, War Eagles, Chargers and now Rabbits!”
The professional basketball season in Denmark usually begins around late September or October.
