On one hand, wtf. On the other, I kinda get it. The new owner probably won’t be able to do anything with it because of historical value. Or maybe it now is on them to maintain, or maybe perform repairs, which would be more expensive than just building a new one.
It’s a trap. They sell old manors for cheap because the cost to upkeep them or even renovate is gigantic due to numerous additional steps that come with old properties like that
FYI TVP reported this wrong.
Sienkiewicz lived and wrote there, but didn’t own the manor. It’s still a historic place, but I feel events may have unfolded differently had he owned it.

By why was it even on sale?
Even if it was in Poland, I wouldn’t want it for free. Would take many years of time, nerves and millions of złoty to make it liveable. But it’s in Belarus, in the middle of nowhere 140 km from Mińsk:
