  1. The Finnish in general are quite good at articulating their thoughts on the matter.

  2. Russia isn’t a threat to us.

American globalisation and running the country through a weak government is

  3. What’s the baltics understanding of our fight for unification?

  4. Is it not weird that we’re being mentioned lately as if we’re the difference maker here?

  5. “When I talk to my colleagues in Germany or Austria, they are so hard-wired into protecting the state of Israel, they find it incredibly difficult to recognise the magnitude of human slaughter of Palestinian people that is occurring.”

In other words “The people of Germany and Austria are so afraid of baseless antisemitism accusations they’d rather allow an entire ethnicity to go extinct than say one word against a genocide”.

  6. There is no hope of Russia invading an eu or NATO country.

    edit.

They have no hope in hell of beating Nato and they know it. They are fighting a war of attrition with Ukraine who is being supplied by NATO a direct confrontation is a whole different kettle of fish.

NATO has 3.5 million soldiers to Russias 1.3 million and NATO are not even at war.
NATO countries have a combined population of almost a billion, Russia has almost 150 million.
NATO has 22,000 aircraft to Russias 4000.
NATO has 1100 ships to Russias 400.
NATO has 11000 tanks to Russias 6000.

Its madness to think Russia would attack NATO. They invaded Ukraine because they were not in NATO.

Also war with NATO means nukes, they are not that insane.

  7. Minorities in the Russian Empire and the USSR have gone through very similar hardships to us during the British Empire, such as forced starvation, settler colonialism and cultural suppression, and I’m surprised and confused that so many of us don’t empathise with them.

  8. Can you fear invasion if you’re already occupied?

  9. “I always get anxious talking about Ukraine in Ireland because I really want Irish people to know that in Brussels, Ireland is not viewed as a credible voice, as a serious voice on security and defence,” he said.

    “We punch above our weight”

  10. “order the invasion of their countries is “almost impossible to understand” for an Irish audience”

There is a reason he lost his seat.

Ireland was partitioned by an imperialistic neighbour so Cuffe is being disingenuous.

What is the difference between the uk and Russia?

  11. As a Finn I just can’t believe how you could have elected that vile person.

  12. It really does illustrate how appalling the Social Democrats are for sponsoring that vile Putin apologist Catherine Connolly.

  13. The German and Austrian people are well known for ignoring genocides. What’s new?

  14. Palestine and Ukraine are both struggling against brutal genocidal occupiers with no regard for human life. They are struggling against counties far more powerful than them that want their land, and have no qualms about murdering countless people (and lots of children) to take that land.

It always boggles my mind when people in Ireland (not everyone of course but a good deal of people) who are fully supportive of Palestine regurgitate Kremlin talking points to justify not supporting Ukraine.

It also boggles my mind when I see people in Ukraine supporting Israel wholeheartedly, which is not uncommon to see.

I think people want to think that geopolitical alliances dictate the right or wrong of a situation, which is absolute dogshite.

Just because the US is backing Israel and complicit in the genocide of Palestinians doesn’t mean that Russia, as their geopolitical rival, is therefore good. And that Ukraine, as a US ally, is therefore bad. It’s far more complex that that. It’s stupid thinking like this that caused some people in Ireland to support the nazis in WW2. The enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend.
