ZAGREB, 19 July 2025 – Major delays are being reported on Croatian roads as thousands make their way to the coast this weekend.
According to the Croatian Auto Club (HAK), traffic is significantly heavier in both directions – towards the coast and back to the interior – especially on key motorways and at border crossings.
The heaviest congestion today has been at the start of the A1 motorway, from the Lučko junction to Bosiljevo.
While toll booths are coping relatively well with the large volume of vehicles, queues stretched over 9 kilometres from Buzin to Lučko this morning.
Croatian Motorways staff are actively managing the flow by regulating entry and exit points, helping vehicles access the motorway without excessively long waits.
However, between 11:00 and 12:00, traffic came to a complete standstill for reasons still unclear. At one point, vehicles were at a standstill for several kilometres in both directions around the toll booths.
By 11:00, more than 24,000 vehicles had already passed through Lučko heading towards the coast.

An object was reported on the A3 motorway near the Ježevo rest area in the direction of Bregana. Traffic is flowing through two lanes with a speed limit of 80 km/h. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution.
At 14:24 on 19 July, police in the Brod-Posavina region reported a traffic accident on the southern side of the A3 motorway near the 149th kilometre. The accident involved a passenger car and a lorry. Traffic is currently being redirected to the emergency lane while an investigation is ongoing.
Drivers are urged to maintain a safe distance between vehicles and remain patient as long queues and slow-moving traffic are expected throughout the day.
