  1. How is AOC not hip to the lingo – “Rules for thee, but not for me?”

  2. Time for Dems to adopt the ‘when they go low, we go lower’ game plan.

  3. The quickest way to get Republicans to start backing anti-gerrymandering legislation

  4. Gerrymandering is bad. The whole idea is antithetical to democracy.

AOC is right though. Your opponents decided they don’t care so if they don’t why should we.

Hey Republicans, what do you value? Power or America?

  5. Gavin newsom can take 9 seats from them by redirecting California (which he is prepared to do), so if Texas moves to take the 5 Trump requested they will be worse off. I seriously doubt given the recent influx to Texas that he could gerrymander all 12 of the current dem seats. But why even go down this road?

  6. Exactly i will completely support Washington gerrymandering and continue doing so as long as Republican states continue to do so.

  7. California needs to get working on an amendment to their constitution.

  8. If Blue states were to go all in on gerrymandering, or even just California, how many seats could they potentially gain in the House, are we talking a handful, a dozen, more?

  9. Politics in this country is so absurd at this point.

  10. She’s absolutely right. Don’t bring knives to gun fights. Fight fire with fire.

  11. Play the game at the table, so you can get the chance to improve the game.

  12. Finally!!! Someone is ready to play the gop’s game. It’s about time.

  13. I abhor gerrymandering. However, Democrats cannot utilize fair play against an opponent that only recognizes power. You need to utilize whatever means are necessary when that happens.

  14. Oh absolutely. If they redistrict Texas, we Redistrict California, Washington, Oregon and New York.

Side Note: There’s a really, really easy way to end gerrymandering. Instead of voting by district, cast ballots for party. Primaries are what create the rankings for each party. If Dems win 4 seats, it’s the first 4 in their rankings.

  15. For decades, Republicans have played cutthroat hardball politics, and Democrats have been characterized as bringing a knife to a gun fight. Really, though, Democrats have been guilty of bringing a pot luck cassarole to the gun fight.

We need to fight. Our lives are on the line. Our freedom, and our prosperity. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

  16. The democrats need to do this to the max. It’s the only way to get the Supreme Court to outlaw it.

  17. I glad they are finally realizing when they go low we should meet them down there.

  18. We as democrats need to start fighting the same way they do. We will never win again by playing nice.

  19. Democrats insist on following Marquess of Queensberry rules while Republicans have no hesitation to use brass knuckles.

  20. Do it until the Republicans agree to stop gerrymandering as well. Get it in writing.

  21. There are ways to have almost every district be blue in California and New York if Dems are as ruthless as Republicans in Wisconsin, NC, Texas, Florida, or Ohio.

  22. Yep. We need to stop acting like they’ll play fair if we do. We fight or we lose for a LONG time.

  23. Red states have been CRUSHING gerrymandering for years – why the Dems have been waiting to leverage it is mystifying to me, other than the fact that – principally speaking – gerrymandering is horrifying in practice. But as the Republicans don’t care and have abused it to the extent they have, it’s time we start using the same playbook.

  24. In general, the Democratic Party needs to attack the Republicans corruption and bad policy more. It’s time to loose the rule book and hit back. Playing by self established rules is suicide.

  25. Finally, a discussion about what anti-Trump/MAGA resistance needs to do (fight fire with fire). I can’t tell you the number of times I have been criticized for saying we need to treat GOP/MAGATs exactly the same way they treat us. Instead, I’m told we can’t stoop to their level. We have to treat them with respect. We have to be better than they are.

That’s called APPEASEMENT!! And, it never works! Neville Chamberlain tried it with Hitler. It didn’t work. Churchill came in and said England is not going to take it anymore. That was the turning point in defeating Hitler. Trump/MAGATs are no different than Hitler/ Nazis. We need to say “NO MORE”!!!

  26. If your opponent is arming, you don’t fucking sit on your hands yelling that it’s unfair.

  27. Exactly! Play by the rules your opponent plays by. Not like we have a referee to keep both sides in order.

  28. Fight fire with fire. This is exactly what the Dems need to do.

Let me qualify by saying I’m not an AOC fan. I think most of her ideas are far fetched and not grounded in reality. Implausible in the current political paradigm.

But this is something we **can** do. Republicans do it all the fucking time.

Stop trying to soap box on a pedestal. Play just as dirty as them. If they start losing and complaining that the tactics are unfair, *then* we can start the discussion on districting reform to actually make it representative.  But to not participate just hands over an advantage for no fucking reason than self gratification.

Put another way, if you’re boxing and someone repeatedly hits you with blatantly illegal hits,  you don’t turn the other cheek, you shoruken them in the fucking balls.

  29. Use their own tools against them and then fix it for good when you are in power

  30. As someone who lives in Utah and saw the only democratic congressman gerrymandered out, in a state that is 30-40% Democrat…. I say go for it. These people are destroying America and protecting pedophiles. Gerrymander the blue states so not a single Republican gets elected. Play their game.

  31. The hilarious thing about this, is that if this happens. The popular vote would favor democrats. The only reason the republicans have gained traction at the polls are for two reasons.

Number 1) is the exploitation of social media using algorithms and misinformation campaigns.

    Number 2) is Gerrymandering.

Other than those two things, another republican would have never been voted into office again. Until they start truely working for the American people, and not the institutions and the Oligarchs.

  32. Republicans support pedophilia. None of them deserve ANY power. Progressive economic populism is the solution, anyone telling you different wants your life to be miserable.

  33. Honestly, Democratic gerrymandering is the only way to make things fair.

Democrats need to play by Republican rules.

  34. Oregon did this when we got a new district after the 2020 census. I don’t like gerrymandering, but if we can’t make it illegal, it’s a fight fire with fire situation.

  35. Republicans have been fighting a war for 50 years without an opponent.

  36. Remove districts entirely and rank choice politicians who represent the state at large.

  37. Democrats have to do it even harder and better than Republicans. Then the SCOTUS will find the energy to end the practice

  38. The only way it’s getting outlawed is if Democrats do it.

  39. If SCOTUS has held that political based gerrymandering is legal, then why the hell not.

  40. Yep, have to agree with AOC. Need to do it more now than ever. The BBB and lots of other bad stuff would have never happened had the Dems done this years ago.

  41. Yep. Gerrymandering should be illegal everywhere. Absolutely insane something so amazingly unethical and undemocratic is allowed to occur at all.

But until then, Blue states need to finally wake up and fight back. Squeeze these fucks out.
