Manon Weiss is a seasoned campaign marketer with a strong background in tourism and content marketing. Currently serving as a Campaign Marketeer B2B at the Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions (NBTC), Weiss has transitioned from promoting international destinations to focusing on showcasing the Netherlands as a premier travel destination.

Weiss began her career in the tourism sector with TravelEssence Nederland and Little America Nederland, where she initially worked as a content marketer. Over time, she expanded her role to include responsibilities as a traffic and campaign coordinator, gaining valuable experience in digital marketing, campaign execution, and audience engagement. Her work involved crafting compelling content, managing social media platforms, and organizing events, all aimed at enhancing the visibility of travel destinations.

In February 2025, Weiss made a significant career move by joining NBTC as a Campaign Marketeer B2B. This role marked a shift from promoting international destinations to focusing on the Netherlands, allowing her to leverage her expertise in tourism marketing to highlight the unique attractions and experiences the country offers to international audiences.

How are you finding the show so far?
It’s really nice. This is actually my first meeting show ever, and I’m having a great time so far. I’m meeting so many new people. The event is huge, and it’s been a fantastic experience.

As a representative of the Netherlands, what are you hoping to find here today?
We’re here with 10 partners, including venues and hotels, and our goal is to meet people who are interested in hosting their events in the Netherlands. It could be anything from a conference to a corporate meeting. We’re particularly focused on connecting with professionals in the health, science, and tech industries, so we’re looking to network and build connections in those sectors.

What do you think the Netherlands has to offer in terms of serving these kinds of markets?
The Netherlands is a small country, but our big cities are very well connected. Public transport plays a huge role in this—it’s easy to get from one city to another, and it’s also incredibly sustainable. You can fly into one of our major airports, or even take a train from the UK to get there. So the accessibility and sustainability make it an ideal destination for events and conferences.

In terms of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) audience, where do you see the industry heading in the next 5 years? What challenges do you think the sector faces?
Budget and sustainability are always big topics, and while those can be challenging, they’re not impossible to overcome. I think in the future, it will be great to host events that also connect with the local community. Beyond environmental sustainability, we should also look at social and economic sustainability, which could be integrated into events. This would benefit not only the tourism industry but the local communities as well.

The Netherlands is often seen as a leader in sustainability. What lessons do you think other countries can learn from your efforts in this area?
Collaboration and innovation are key. In the Netherlands, we work very hard on sustainability, and we have many smart people dedicated to making progress in this area. The success we’ve seen is a result of strong collaboration—when you work with the right people, you can go really far. So, I think other countries can learn from our emphasis on teamwork and innovation.

Can you tell us about any major upcoming events in the Netherlands that should be on the world map?
Absolutely! One of the major events we’ve just hosted was the NATO summit in The Hague. Coming up in October, we’ll have the BMCA convening EMA in Rotterdam. We’re proud to have our partner Poson here at the stand with us, as they are hosting the event. There are also many more conferences happening throughout the Netherlands, so the country continues to be a hub for global events.
