Cultural differences. In America, ‘Tie a Yellow Ribbon’ means ‘Welcome home from prison, we forgive you’ whereas in Wales it means ‘Can we have a new roll of food waste liners please’ 🤔

  1. I live in the same county as you and buy my own liners. I’ve now found out I can put a yellow ribbon on my bin and get them for free!?!?

    Well, in my borough, we dont need to use special liners, either a normal plastic bag or even chuck all the food waste directly into the little bin.

  7. Where I am we sacrifice one of the bags which gets tied around the handle, really works, though seems inconsistent. I left it on for months and now we’ve got enough bags to last 2 years.

  8. Where I live they stopped supplying free bags. We now have to buy them. Discovered if I ask for poo bags in the library they give me the same bags for free

  9. In our county you have a yellow plastic tag that you put your name and address on so they give you a new roll of bags the next time they empty the bin.

    For years I was buying the bags because I was never given a bin or bags when they changed the system, but continued using the old bin which was similar. Then I found one of these blank tags drifting down the street, now I get a roll of 52 bags when I run out.

  10. They stopped giving them away near me so everything goes in the waste bin now. Hardly anyone puts the food bins out on a weekly basis since the change.

  11. I wondered what that meant! I’ve seen it on quite a few food bins, but never knew.

    We don’t have one, because each time we get one, and try to use it, it either gets stolen or disappears during bad weather, then the council wanted us to pay for another. Fuck that.

  12. That’s just in your part of Wales. Our kerbside caddies are green, the bio bags are green, and we don’t have those weird boxes to the left of your pic.

    Your recycling is all kinds of fucked in my eyes 😛
