A dad who wore a gorilla costume for his daughter on her last day of term was told by her North Yorkshire school his actions were 'a serious safeguarding concern'.

  1. Yeah the school must be woke. Loads of adult men turning up to junior schools in masks is obviously a great idea.

  3. Worst part is I genuinely can’t tell if this is a parody headline or not. It’s so hard to tell with people who are pre-occupied with what’s woke/ what isn’t

  4. Any sympathy for him went the moment I read the line “A kid can identify as a cat but a dad can’t dress up as a gorilla’ (as wonderful as that line is if you just read it out of nowhere).

    Also he’s a self employed horse dentist. I hope he doesn’t wear the horse head when doing the dental work

  5. Ridiculous. This isn’t woke by any definition of the word. It is a safeguarding issue though. Anyone with an iota of common sense would see that. You just can’t turn up to the school gate wearing a mask. And what about the other kids in the playground? Sure, someight laugh but others will undoubtedly be freaked out.

    Such selfish behaviour from the dad.

    Its a Masked adult entering a school, functionally it ain’t no different to a balaclava, you remain anonymous in both.

    Also he’s saying like the kids wouldn’t be allowed to dress up? Last i checked it usually isnt kids abducting other kids.

  19. Unless it’s a costume event why the fuck are you going to your child’s school dressed as a gorilla you fucking weirdo.

    That’s where the conversation should start and end, people now using the words woke and stuff to make things political.

    If you were in the pub and your mate said “gonna dress up as a gorilla to pick my kid up for no reason other than I want to Tomorrow” you’d absolutely rinse them.

    * Something realtively simple dimissed for being ‘woke’
    * ‘What is this country coming to’ because he was told not to wear a gorilla costume
    * Mention of kids identifying as cats
    * Absolute failure to understand or engage with why a man turning up in a mask and costume may present safeguarding issues
    * ‘I’ve been getting loads of calls from people’…course you have mate.
