Spotted outside London Bridge. The organisation was recently found guilty of unlawful cash collection and masquerading as a charity. How are they still able to operate and beg for donations without the police moving them on?

  1. In order of effectiveness:
    1) People stopping giving money to them
    2) Enforcement by councils of the laws that are easily available to them in this regard
    3) Proper penalties to support the above

Although I hear whispers, after publishing [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/s/SUFM07Wj6f), there may be news on some changes very very soon.

  2. Call the police 101 non emergency, they will clear them off and take details

  3. Because the police don’t really care about people scamming vulnerable members of the public out of a few quid. Nor about souped up eBikes without insurance (effectively scamming other drivers), phone snatching or tube fare evading.

These ‘minor crimes’ are not a ‘priority’, so are basically fair game.

  4. Whenever I’ve spoken to these people, they don’t claim to be a charity. It says CIC right there on the poster

  5. Report them to police for illegal collection of money & potential breach of the peace, blocking pavements etc.

  6. Pretty much what is already being done.

    1) Awareness being spread they’re a business not charity.

    2) Investigations into the nature and way they canvass/engage for funds

    3) Councils refusing their requests to set up stands

  7. These posts are getting annoying. Report them and move on

  8. Write “SCAM” on the ground in chalk in front of them.

  9. If you’ve any mates who are currently serving or ex-services maybe let them know where these scammers are. In my (limited, of course) experience, actual servicemen/women really don’t like these scumbags, understandably.

  10. Posting about them every day on Reddit will certainly stop them! Yawn

  11. r/london loves banging on about CICs and petty scams but goes dead silent when it comes to actual violent crime or serious corruption. Why’s that then?

  12. Share with the “Walter Mitty hunting club”. Theyre a group of serving and ex forces that expose those that lie about serving as well as scammers like these

  13. Ignore them and don’t give them any money? I swear every other post on here is about this or a similar group.

Bottom line is this isn’t a new problem. People have been “panhandling” in one way or another almost as long as mankind has existed and will continue to do so because evidently it’s financially viable for at least some people.

  14. same category of those who scam people (i saw a video on this sub with some romanians on the bridge playing the game where they hide the ball inside a cup and move it and you have to guess where in which cup the ball is)

  15. How is that an issue ?People have been doing for ages .. collecting money for charities .. I don’t understand why it’s bothering you

  16. What police care about is more to steal children from vulnerable people .if anybody call police on you ,you are at home ,they will just show up to your door and try entering and the moment they see you are a parent they will let social sercices know about that straight away . That what metropolitan police are about in England … not about scammers ,illegal people living and working in the countries ,nor thieves nor anything .

  17. Scammy gammons. They dont give a crao about the veterans

Why dont they ask Nigel to give money from his limited company

  18. Couldn’t even steam the flag a little beforehand
Looks like a crushed up napkin

  19. Stink bombs, a lovely egg fragrance wherever they pull up.

  20. Jesus Christ do we need a new post on these grifters every single fucking day?

  21. Can someone help me understand how they’re not legit? Their C.I.C. number seems to be registered. What makes them not a true charity?

  22. Drinking French water! Hope they didn’t buy it from the Starbucks who paid no tax in the UK last year. Rule Britannia

  23. is there a scam to prevent knife crime in youth? I was in London last year in the spring, near the national gallery i think, and some young men approached us. looking very official, with flyers, offer receipts, we could give cash (maybe even pay by card?), we said we are broke students. they very persistent but friendly

  24. Well you see, they just pretended to be a charity and stole loads of money. They didn’t do anything really immoral, like say “maybe we shouldn’t kill ALL the Palestinians.”

  25. Fart spray…. Nobody wants to give them money if they smell like shit.

  26. Only just reading about these now having ignored them in the past at Farringdon Station.

Saw them last week outside the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead. Sounds like they’ve found a new target market.

  27. maybe just start harassing them for using american language to describe british ex service people. veterans indeed…………
