Over 200 fires were detected on the 11th and 12th of July 2025, in Northern Ireland. Using the Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) from NASA.

Fires were detected using the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) aboard Suomi NPP, NOAA 20 and NOAA 21 satellites.

Size of the circle is an estimate of the size of the fire based on Fire Radiative Potential (heat).

    Also surprised to not see a big circle on Dromore, is there not one at Thornhill? Dot to the left of Dromore I think is blackskull?

  13. What’s the craic with the one in south Armagh? I’d be surprised of thats accurate-Looks to be between Camlough and belleek … id have expected it to be further north around markethill

  17. Looked at that and there’s one pretty close to where I’m originally from. In the arse end of nowhere. Asked my auld fella if there was a fire on our road. Told me the neighbour does an annual burning of junk and crap from fields over the 12th under the auspices of an 11th bonfire, never gets questioned 😬

    EDIT: changed “burying” to “burning” (although I’ve heard he’s at both though lol)

  21. Plenty of catholic farmers burn their waste. On the only night of the year they get away with and won’t affect grant money
