I just moved to a new flat here in Switzerland and found this in the wall. The house is rather old and kept original (no major modifications) its from the 70’s.
Anyone has an idea of what it could be?
Maybe the socket is more recent since the wall seems patched up right underneath it.

This looks like old telephone connector: [https://www.ricardo.ch/de/a/reichle-telefon-steckdose-tt-83-ap-1273784272/](https://www.ricardo.ch/de/a/reichle-telefon-steckdose-tt-83-ap-1273784272/)
It’s an old TT83 communication outlet that aren’t used anymore. If it annoys you can replace it with a blank outlet.
This is a telephone socket for the Landline.
This was initially for a phone line. Over time, it became the standard plug for internet access. But this has been phased out in the last 10–20 years by coaxial or fibre optics. Your landlord will probably have it replaced at some point.
You could probably remove it and then place some other cable through the tube
It can be used to get ADSL sometimes if you have nothing else for internet. I had mine replaced by a RJ11 plug and it worked like a charm.

This is a T+T83 double outlet. Its the copper Landline.
It is still in use for Internet. (Cooper Access for ISPs like Swisscom, Salt, iway, ect)
If you Order Internet over copper you will get a adaptor tt83 to rj45.
The outlet has Space for 2 plugs. One at the bottom and one at the top.
If you want Internet thru this line, replace the Socket with RJ45. This old Bastard steals your Speed (a lot of it), your Ping will be Ass, TV Services wont work stable.

It‘s old and outdated.
I am old
