>A 54-year-old driver from Germany was speeding at 66 km/h on the Julier Pass near Silvaplana GR on Sunday. The police then confiscated his foreign driving licence and a deposit of CHF 4000. This will be used to cover the expected fine.
>The German was travelling in a rented car in the direction of the Julier Hospice, wrote the cantonal police of Graubünden on Monday morning. He was then flashed at 146 km/h at Julieralp – at the legal speed limit of 80 km/h.

>The police consequently confiscated his driving licence and reported him to the public prosecutor’s office. He also had to pay a deposit of CHF 4000. This is a security deposit that is ordered for citizens residing abroad, explained Franco Passini, chief public prosecutor of the canton of Graubünden, when asked by Keystone-SDA.
>”It is a security deposit that is permitted by the Code of Criminal Procedure. The money will be used to cover the expected fine and procedural costs,” Passini continued.
>In general, there have been more speeding offences in Graubünden this year. “We are seeing an increase in cases,” said Anita Senti, media spokesperson for the cantonal police in Graubünden, when asked by Keystone-SDA. By mid-July, there had already been 38 cases, compared to 24 in the same period in 2024. “If we take the data for the whole year, there were a total of 51 cases in 2024 and 38 in 2023,” Senti continued. How? Just… How?
So, how much will the fine be?
lol. These are really “news”. Police care more about speeding than everything else including the sexual assault against women and violence 🤦🏻♀️
Hope the guy is suing.
