The 2025 NFL season is right around the corner. Teams have officially begun reporting to training camp across the league, including the Dallas Cowboys on Monday. Yahoo Sports is on the road this summer hitting camps across the country, with Senior NFL Reporter Charles Robinson in Oxnard, California with the Cowboys to start.
At Monday’s season-opening media conference, Cowboys team owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he’s “not at all” frustrated with the Micah Parsons contract negotiations. “I’m appreciative of Micah [Parsons] being here,” Jones said. “Not the least concerned about any ‘dangling participles’ on contracts.”

Parsons himself might not share that sentiment. After the media conference ended, Parsons retweeted this J.J. Watt tweet that’s critical of Jones and the Cowboys’ handling of the situation:

In response to a question about the hangups in the negotiation, Jones contextualized contracts as four- or five-year deals with considerations that run into the future — including health. “Just because we sign him doesn’t mean we’re going to have him. He missed six games last year. Seriously,” Jones said. (Fact check: Parsons missed four.) Maybe that contributed to Parsons’ apparent displeasure.
Other highlights: Jones has thought about stepping down as general manager — but not really. “Small fractions of seconds,” he said. Meanwhile, on cornerback Trevon Diggs losing a reported $500,000 due to failing to show up for required offseason workouts, Jones was blunt: “He didn’t earn it. He didn’t come. That’s in his contract.”

And if he doesn’t, could a Kirk Cousins reunion be in line?

Russell Wilson is QB1 with the Giants to start training camp. But first-round pick Jaxson Dart has prototype physical traits and could push to begin his inevitable takeover of the job sooner rather than later.
Ben Johnson’s first year with Bears, Caleb Williams
Chicago wanted an offensive mastermind to pair with its first overall pick from 2024. Ben Johnson is that guy, having helmed the Lions’ prolific offense the past few seasons. What will he look like as a head coach with a talent like Williams?
