Look at all the ~~Ukrainian citizens fighting corruption~~ Kremlin bots.
I have to look more into this because I can’t understand what it’s all about. Either way Love to see so many people freely protesting!
Ukrainians will seemingly never get tired of impressing me. There are constant drone attacks on their cities, and they get the time and courage to protest against their president.
Where are these numbers when they need people at the front.
Putin’s wet dream are coming true.
Luckily it’s just another manipulation.
That’s a lot of fresh non disabled bodies that should be at the front lines defending their country.
Zelenskyy has just given trump the ammunition he needs to attack him.
With all sympathy, Ukraine will be lead to EU by current university students and younger soldiers. Oligarchs and contaminated political class must pass (or get kicked out in elections).
Corrupted oligarchs underestimated regular people that are dying every day for free and prosperous Ukraine.
Corruption = Russia. If not immediately, then in 5-10y perspective.
I hope that Ukrainians will choose EU, which by any means is not perfect. But it is just on another level.
Are we sure that’s legit footage? I can’t imagine Ukrainians gathering in such thick thrones when Putin is ready to drop bombs and drones.
I trust Selensky enough to assume he is right about this. And the EU should also give him the benefit of the doubt, after everything.
I think Zelensky missstepped here
Seems like an unforced error to me, especially when trying to woo both the EU and NATO.
A lot of people want him to quit and leave country, also a lot of solders left front line to come to protest, they not protesting agains law, they asking for removal of government
I totally get why people are protesting against this, but is this really the right time to start protests like this? I mean, your country is being bombed to bits. Even if for the wrong reasons, it might be better to remain united, because right now you look incredibly vulnerable and easy prey for Russia. Putin must be rubbing his hands right now…
Pipl mast trast as.
I’m sure Russia is bombarding Ukrainians social media too
Is this in Moscow?
Hasn’t Zelensky already proposed an additional bill that would fix this issue? Voted on in a week?
There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding the details here but my read on the situation from various perspectives is that following appear potentially true to some degree and are not mutually exclusive:
1. The independent anti-corruption agencies NABU and SAPO aren’t perceived as particularly effective at actually prosecuting corruption cases, and even supporters of their independence seem to recognize those issues
2. There is alleged Russian infiltration in those agencies (two cases I found in news) which allowed spies access to privileged info that could be weaponized to undermine Ukrainian politics. and allegedly the agencies were [notified of infiltration](https://euromaidanpress.com/2025/07/21/sbu-russian-mole-in-ukraines-anti-corruption-bureau-spied-under-former-president-yanukovychs-security-chief/) but were unwilling or incapable of doing anything about it, which would suggest some sort of reform is needed.
3. Some of the charges against NABU / SAPO employees by SBU (Ukraine security service) are for old / minor stuff like traffic infractions which suggests that at least some of the claims of agency corruption may be politically motivated. Note: Both 2 and 3 can be simultaneously true to varying degrees.
4. It appears that this latest legislation and at least some of the SBU activity against anti-corruption officials started after the latter began investigating Zelensky’s inner circle which suggests that it may in part be politically motivated to insulate his own corruption. While I’ve been an admirer of zelensky, we should acknowledge his fallibility as a human. Claims of corruption in his inner circle are not new, and notably him and some of his inner circle were [cited in the Pandora papers as having offshore companies](https://www.occrp.org/en/project/the-pandora-papers/pandora-papers-reveal-offshore-holdings-of-ukrainian-president-and-his-inner-circle) (likely tax evasion at very least).
To summarize, it seems like people are right to be skeptical / critical of zelensky’s motives here but also that doesn’t necessarily invalidate at least some of the criticism of NABU / SAPO’s efficacy and alleged infiltration. So maybe some reform of those agencies is needed, even if this particular legislation isn’t the right solution.
Let’s just hope public pressure will lead to a positive resolution to this crisis.
Ukrainians have Golden cohones
It’s a sign of a strong and democratic civil society
I wonder if there is something with this tied to trumps sudden reversal on military aid to UKR. Like, perhaps Trump said he has to do X to get the aid and this is one of or a step in whatever trump demanded privately?
Ballsy motherfuckers.
Is now the best time to protest against the president that is begging for help? Won’t this hurt Ukraine?
This is how a working democracy works. When did we see so many people stand up for something I Russia.
This makes me really believe in Ukraina!
I honestly do get the viewpoints of both sides here, but given literally everything else this feels like a big “rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic” moment for both Zelenksy and the protesters.
That takes some goddamn balls to gather all in one place and advertise it while Russia is actively bombing. Good for them. Soooooooo that raises the question … is Ukraine just a money funnel; and if so for what exactly?
From all I gathered and knowing Zelensky, I’m willing to give him trust credits.
Why? Not every politician centralizing is automatically suddenly corrupt or going power crazy or both.
Abraham Lincoln once said: “If you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”
Zelensky passed that test with flying colors, he is leading a country at war, that automatically, in every democratic country under martial law, brings certain centralization of power and streamlining of processes, that in regular teams could be viewed as problematic, but “War” is not exactly “regular times”.
He once ran as president to end the systemic problems, that Ukraine has, including corruption and making the country eligible to join the EU and NATO.
I believe him, when he is stating, that he has a plan for how to reform the fight against corruption; that this is not some “heel turn” of the century, that some want to make out for the heightened drama and clicks, that it would be.
In fact Zelensky is one of the very few politicians in this whole world that I’d trust in that degree.
Granted, I’m not from Ukraine, so I miss out on the whole internal day-to-day-politicking of Ukraine, that Ukrainians can follow every day in their national news while we Ukraine supporters outside of Ukraine only get the biggest developments.
But think about it: For at least like 2 years we hear every know and then, that Ukraine would get more authoritarian.
Would a truly authoritarian country respect their citizens and them protesting right next to the Presidential Seat?
Basically, ask what Putin would let his authorities have do, if suddenly several hundred thousand Russians start protesting across the country, some of them right outside the Kremlin.
You probably would answer this with something like “Have them beaten up by OMON police”, “have them shot” or something similar.
We’re not seeing anything like this in Ukraine. On the contrary, even though the protesters, ignoring the threat to their own lives by Russian Drones seeing that as prime target, are in breach with Ukrainian law by breaching the curfew orders. The Ukrainian Authorities, including the president, know that a democratic, free nation has to answer proportionally to a breach of justice and show restraint in such situations, respect the legitimate concerns of a grand mass of citizens and tackle them at the core.
So Zelensky has to ensure that the fight against corruption has to go on, to solve this crisis, so we won’t see a 180° turn in the anti-corruption-course of the Ukrainian Government. And I think this is what he also wants.
If Zelensky would be truly a corrupt politician like some conspiracy theorists (most likely on the Russian payroll) want to make you believe, he would’ve tugged tail and ran away more than 3 years ago. When he was offered the ride, he then would’ve taken it, to enjoy his life in peace and luxury, not caring about his people.
Zelensky did the opposite, he stayed and kept leading, even separating from his family for a while and one just needs to look at this face, compare it to e.g. 2022 just short before the war and one can see, what a toll it also takes on his health, he basically ages faster than a regular guy. That happens to many top politicians, but especially those in times of War. I think especially his by now sagging eyes alone speak volumes of the high stress that he endures every day.
Does this fit the picture of a corrupt politician? I think not.
The protest is against the bill, not Zelensky. Big difference.
