Hi everyone,
Just needed some advice regarding a doctor bill that I received recently.
So, this was my first visit to a doctor after living 3 years in Germany. I am publicly insured by SBK. What happened was I cut my hand on a Friday afternoon and thus wanted to get a Tetanus shot. On Saturday, I just went to a private practice booked via Doctolib (no phone call involved) and got my vaccine shot there. I paid by cash at that time, around 152 euro,s as they don't accept public insurance. In this 152 euro bill, the doctor charged the same consultation by phone for the same reason, for not speaking German. But I just paid without any question. As I didn't have any vaccination card, the doctor told me to come next week and collect the card. So I left in good faith.
I went to the doctor next week on 28 June without any termin as they said it was not necessary for collection. After visiting, we talked for 4-5 minutes, and they mentioned that they had forgotten to make it, but then they said they'd send it to me via Postal mail, and it's like 4-5 euros. So I agreed and left the doctor's office. Again, we did not have any phone call. There was no discussion about a detailed report of findings, as stated in GoA 75 (not sure if this is what they meant by vaccine card or impfpass).
It's been like 3 weeks since then. I still have not received my vaccine card via post but they told me I will receive it by the first week of July while today is 24th of July. And today I saw this bill.
So, my questions are:
1. Is it normal to be charged for telephone consultations while no call happened during the 2 encounters at all and because of not speaking German (GOA 1)? (first one booked by doctolib and second time they asked me to come and collect the card during my first visit). I mean if it took more time, that's fine. But how could it be charged under telephone consultation?
-
There was no discussion about findings (GOA 75). So is this the charge for a vaccination card or for so-called discussion about report of findings? Because we did not discuss anything about any report. They took the vaccine vial and made a note about serial no etc to write in the vaccine card.

If the vaccine card doesn't come via post, what should I do? Seems like if I call, they'll again charge. If I visit again about this collection issue, I'm very sure they'll again send a bill.
Any advice will be well appreciated 🙂
Thanks!

You should have called 116 117 or if really urgent visit the “Notfallaufnahme” (ER)
wtf, I’ll keep in mind to never ever under any circumstances go to a private practice
Don’t know about question 3 but I have been to a private practice in the past and I don’t speak German. I have never been charged a phone consultation fee or whatever.
Honestly I would ask for explanation via email so you have everything in writing. I’m not saying that they are 100% taking advantage of you but it does look shady.
Just so you know 1 isnt a charge for telephone consultations. Its a charge for consultations including by telephone. So its a charge for pretty much anytime you speak to a doctor.
