  1. VPN sales sore!

Edit: if you buy a VPN, make sure to use a Swedish based VPN and choose a Swedish server to route through.
Look up the history of pirate bay to see why.
Most VPNs outside of Sweden do actually keep logs despite them saying otherwise..

  2. Nobody actually trusts this third party corporation with any of this data, right?

Presumably they’ll be the corp that become the go-to for this when it inevitably gets introduced to every single form of internet communication so that giving up your privacy becomes the only choice. Obviously that’s what the government (regardless of party) is after.

But how long until we find out what Persona are actually doing with all that data they super special promise they aren’t going to keep or sell or use for anything at all?

The entire population will end up logged on a database with a picture of them and their home address next to a list of every single thing they do online. Looked at porn? That’s getting logged. Researching a negative story about the ruling powers? That’s getting logged. Spoke out against a genocide and our government’s efforts to aid it and silence objectors? Better believe that’s getting logged.

And while the government keep a watchful eye on everything you do, every interest you research, every opinion you share, there will be a nice kind data collection company crossing their hearts that they won’t be selling that information to learning machine companies and advertising firms.

    What a tragic mess.

  3. Ive not been checked yet, just tried porn hub too ( research purposes olny 🙂 ) i know its the eve of the new checks but if everyone is going to be checked tomorrow screen time across the county will be well down

  4. I just tried to read a Ukraine sub, can’t without trusting some chuckle fuck with my details. Fuck that.

  5. I’m willing to bet a large sum of money that Persona will be confessing to a data breach within six weeks of this fuckery launching.

  6. Such a stupid idea from this government but wonderful for the data-brokers, now they can put a face and address to your data. Even better for scammers and other hostile entities when the information is inevitably sold on and/or leaked.

  7. Looks like I will have to get Nord VPN this online safety act needs scrapping

  8. Get a VPN, lots of free ones out there, or if you want to trust one of the big names, Nord VPN is doing a Reddit deal at the moment, for £2.50 a month for 28 months. I’ll have to find the link somewhere, I found it in a previous comment on this subject.

EDIT, found it, £2.69 for 28 months

Edit 2, sorry deleted the affiliate link, found it on Google! Search Nord VPN Reddit discount on Google it should pop up.

  9. If you verify using the Reddit website you can upload a picture.
Consequently, if you search on Google images for “UK driving licence” there’s some pretty good pictures.

I am not sending my ID to shitpost on websites, and I do not trust a third party with my ID to verify I’m old enough to wank.

  10. if the company that does age verification promises not to keep the data you gave them for longer than 7 days, we should absolutely trust them. /s

  11. explain to me like I’m a complete idiot how this is going to stop ‘tech savvy’ kids getting past this & then making bank at school selling their mates the info how to do it?

  12. Had to facescan on reddit, discord, and bluesky so far. Bluesky’s third party verifier told me my face wasn’t real.

  13. This is effectively a VPN subsidy act. The general population will soon be fully accomplished with eluding traffic interception at the ISP level, making it even harder for the police to catch the actual bad guys. Great success! /s

  14. I did it using the selfie, they don’t have your name, DOB or any thing other than a selfie and AI judges if you are over 18, I’m quite a bit over.

  15. Time to delete the reddit app and any other site that doesn’t have the backbone to tell the nanny state to bugger off me thinks🙄

  16. VPN doesn’t work . Where do you verify your age anyways? Doubt I’ll do it.. really thought a VPN would work

  17. Pretty sure this shows how even more incompetent the UK gov is. If anyone knew what a VPN was then this bill would have not passed but clearly parliament is so out of touch they still use magazines.

On that I can’t wait for pornhub to get hacked and we can see what the politicians are watching

  18. I would typically not participate in such verification, but Reddit process via video is quite easy

  19. Guess I’m going to have to go back to the magazines for the foreseeable future.

  20. Getting NordVPN free with my bank seems much better by the day
