Czechia rules out 35-year-old Jan Vesely for the EuroBasket 2025

With 16 players making the preliminary list of Czechia for the EuroBasket 2025, Jan Vesely was instead ruled out.

“Considering his health issues, which prevented him from playing for most of the bottom part of the past season, and the further delay in rehab and return to practice, we agreed to not include him among the candidates,” mentioned senior national team manager Jiri Welsch.

Patrik Auda and David Jelinek were also left out of the squad due to injuries.

The selections made by head coach Diego Ocampo were officially confirmed by the Czech Basketball Federation on Thursday.

With the 12 remaining players, following training camp and friendly preparation games, Czechia will be heading to Riga and compete in Group A of the preliminary round. Facing Portugal, Turkiye, Estonia, Serbia, and Latvia between August 27 and September 3 will decide a potential ticket to the knockout stage, which will be played in the Latvian capital from September 6 to 14. The top four seeds of all four preliminary groups will progress to the Round of 16.
