> As it stands, the UK Online Safety Act requires **individual websites to collect users’ information and verify their age, leaving it up to the platforms to ensure they comply with the law.** Free speech and digital privacy experts have expressed serious concerns regarding such age verification requirements, stating that they’re ineffective, unenforceable, and present considerable privacy risks.
I repeat once again; do not give your IDs to any service (reddit included)
Apologies, I messed up the title. I wasn’t familiar with the app – the name of it is “Tea” not “Tea cup”.
Sidenote; the concept of this app is absolutely atrocious –
> Tea bills itself as a “dating safety” app on which women — and only women — can check a **potential date’s history and anonymously provide feedback after the fact.**
> The app’s architecture turns passive scrolling into proactive security. Reverse image searches cross-reference profiles against public databases, flagging stolen photos instantly. Phone lookups reveal linked social media, exposing inconsistencies. The encrypted group chat—moderated 24/7—lets users share red flags like aggressive behavior or dishonesty.
TLDR; The irony here is impeccable. This is an app that revolves around “doxxing” mens dating history by women reporting them by name (what could go wrong…).
However the creators just doxxed their user database by accident (releasing their IDs)

edit: article from today
#[“Tea, an app that lets women gossip about men, has overtaken ChatGPT in popularity on the App Store”](https://dev.ua/en/news/plitkarskyi-dodatok-obiishov-chatgpt-1753447398)
lets see how long it takes before this leak make headlines.
Important info, but do we really need to platform this kind of hate speech? Or does OOP have some actual evidence of a more qualified candidate being passed over in favor of a less qualified minority by this specific employer?
Edit:
I’m referring to this part: “This is what happens when you entrust your personal information to a bunch of vibe-coding DEI hires”. I’m just wondering if this leak really was caused by, for example, a black dude getting hired over a more qualified white guy, or if this is just racist, unsubstantiated hate speech.
Imma be real people should know better than to just upload their govt ID to some dumb shit like that. If you’re not paying for an app (or any service for that matter) you are the product, not the customer.
App made with the sole intent of doxxing people ends up with all its users getting doxxed. What a turn of events.
Can’t say I feel that bad about this one. Goes around comes around, I guess.
It’s all deleted now but for the future, censor stuff better. Google lens was able to read it even without removing the bars
