How much revenue does the federal government collect from tariffs?

Customs duties revenue, adjusted for inflation, remained between $27 billion and $47 billion from 1980 to 2018. It grew from FY 2018 to FY 2022 when it reached a peak of $108.2 billion. The increase began after the US imposed new tariffs on hundreds of imported goods, mostly from China. These tariffs were intended to respond to concerns about trade practices and foreign policies.
